Innovation Neighborhood Evolves from Abandoned Lots to 24-7 Mixed Use

How has Midtown's innovation neighborhood changed since Tech Square opened? The area was abandoned, derelict, and undesirable, eight blocks of overgrown lots and deteriorated buildings. Today, it is Atlanta’s most sought-after neighborhood for technology companies, anchored by a 1.4M SF mixed-use complex featuring ATDC, Flashpoint, Venture Lab, and corporate innovation centers.

Currently under construction or in the planning phase as of July 2016 are a half-dozen projects that will yield more than 70K SF of retail, 1.2M SF of office and 1000 residential units. Tech Square has become a place where people can spend all hours of the day working and recharging their batteries.

It boasts a healthy collection of retail and dining options and will soon gain a 2,500 SF pick-up/drop-off outpost Amazon@GeorgiaTech (summer 2016) and The Canteen (early 2017), a new restaurant from the team behind New York-style deli favorite The General Muir.
